They used to just look over each other’s shoulders among the church pews during Sundays. As kids, Ernest and May did not grow up to be close past being the younger siblings that their sisters used to tag along. But then again, some love stories do start small.

Both from Malolos, Bulacan, Ernest and May would always notice each other at Sunday mass way back in grade school. Their sisters were dear friends yet the two never really had a chance to bond until high school. It was during their teenage years when May became a part of a community youth organization headed by Ernest’s sister. Later on, Ernest joined in, too and that sparked everything into motion. The two would steal minutes during breaks just to sit beside each other while playing the old Nokia phone game “Snake”. Sounds like a legit excuse, don’t you think? Over time, their friendship turned from special to special with holding hands to hey-we’re-finally-official! Nothing beats a strong friendship for foundation, as they say. And how’s this for an “it actually worked!” story; May reveals, “He was my first and last relationship, and I was the same for him, too.”

It’s been a long yet sweet road ever since the two became a couple in 2001, and the years are still rolling in. For seven years now, Ernest and May have been working overseas, braving through homesickness, financial struggles, and loss of loved ones, together. No one said it would be easy. But the two found a home in each other, just as they had when they were small.

“We are just happy that God kept us together and blessed us with each other,” they close.

Some love stories do start small. And some are even lucky enough to last a lifetime. Ernest and May’s definitely one for the books! Thanks for sharing your love story with us!

Finding love was like hitting BINGO for Dado and Miles.

The two first met each at the New Joiner’s Orientation (NJO) in Accenture in 2006. The new employees were playing Human Bingo (a game wherein participants go around and let others sign under labeled boxes). Dado and Miles got to exchange Bingo cards; Dado signed under the box “Appeared on TV”, while Miles signed under the “Harry Potter Fan” box.

The exchange of cards turned into an exchange of Hellos, and the next thing they knew, they were hitting the jackpot on a great friendship.

Some call it luck. But if you ask Dado and Miles, six beautiful years of love and companionship had to be more than just some good fortune. “We’re both each other’s answered prayer,” they said, “It was as if God did not just give us lovers; He gave us each other’s best friends.”

Without a doubt, Dado and Miles hit BINGO on forever. Their advice? “Love is a choice. No matter how many challenges come your way, always chose to face it together head on. Letting go must never be an option.”

We’ll take that as a lucky tip! Thanks, Dado and Miles, for sharing your love story with us! We wish you all the best of blessings.

Here’s a love story with an Ayer touch.

At around the time Camille graduated from high school, Gus was being groomed as a new graduate of Philippine Military Academy Sanlingan class of 2005. Gus was a fellow Ayer of Camille’s older brother.

It was the summer of 2005 when Gus paid a visit to Camille’s brother and finally met her for the first time. The next day, the two found themselves on a double date. And just like that, the Ayer charisma took over. Gus and Camille kept their connection over text messaging and frequent visits, “without missing a pasalubong for us,” Camille notes.

Gus courted her for a year. What probably endeared Camille to him was the fact that she was a proud NBSB (no boyfriend since birth). “He knew that I would only date someone if I already consider marrying the person,” Camille adds. And while she already liked him at the onset, Camille felt it was necessary to let the romance blossom over time. “I knew we were already in love with each other after a few months of courtship,” Camille shares, “but having that time frame made it much sweeter.”

And sweeter it grew. Camille and Gus became each other’s best friend and partner in life. The two founded their relationship on Jesus and the desire to grow closer to Him. “That’s the beauty of putting God at the center of a relationship,” Camille sums, “though we are not straight A students when it comes to relationships, there is fear of the Lord. We learn to treat each other and love each other better through the love we’ve received from Jesus.”

The Ayer and his lady made Christ the Commanding Officer of their relationship, and that was a choice that made them a winning team. Today, Gus and Camille continue walking with Jesus even as they look forward to building their new family together. Camille shares, “Soon by God’s grace we’ll have kids of our own. We pray that we may mold them into good Christian leaders who will love their God, country and fellowmen.”

Spoken like true soldiers for the Lord. Here’s to a blessed future together, Gus and Camille!

If saying ‘I Do’ is sweet, then saying ‘I Still Do’ after thirteen years is so much sweeter!

This is Jonathan and Shirley and their love story which dates us back thirteen years ago, in 1998, when they were still a couple of med reps who happened to be deployed together in La Union. Thirteen years ago, they were just friends who later fell in love. Thirteen years ago, the two tied the knot but only in civil courts. Today, Jonathan and Shirley are renewing the promise they made thirteen years ago. Only this time, it’s more special. They’re making it before the Lord.

Through the years, Jonathan and Shirley have learned and experienced so much together, but probably the best thing they’ve discovered through their marriage was God. He is, after all, the Author of love. And when they had found Him, they’ve found everything else they needed.

“I saw how the Lord changed Jon and realized how much he values the Lord and our family,” shares Shirley who, along with Jonathan, began her walk with Christ when she committed her life to Jesus and to their growth group in CCF. She continues: “I’ve learned how God loves us unconditionally. The Lord made it clear that even when trials happen to our family, they come only to test our faith and to mold us to be perfect and complete.”

You can say that Jonathan and Shirley are taking this second walk down the aisle with a wiser, more fulfilled heart, not only because of each other but also because of the God who they let in. Jonathan sums up their journey: “Marriage as they say is like being a Christian, it is not hard but rather almost impossible to sustain. It would only work if Christ is at the center of your relationship.”

With a God-centered marriage that grows even more beautiful over time, thirteen years is far too young. The best is yet to come! More love to you both!

When everything else has been taken from you, what do you do? Where do you turn to?

Stripped down of position, possessions, and the people who mattered to him, Ickhoy once found himself over the edge, wondering what God’s purpose was for letting all these happen to him. But right at the edge of surrender, God was waiting. To catch him. To hold him up. To give him an indescribable future that’s possible–

Only by God’s grace.

Watch and share this teaser video of Ickhoy De Leon’s testimony! See it in full at the Christ’s Commission Fellowship’s 28th Anniversary on August 26, 5th floor St. Francis Square, Ortigas.

Trust in a relationship is like the wheels to a car. It’s just what makes it work. And yes, we get our tires flat once or twice. But if love is true, tires can be made new. Or Trust, we mean.

Meet Alain and Shiela, a couple of survivors from a Trust tragedy. And now, with their brand new set of wheels, (Oh did we say wheels? We meant Trust) they’re driving home with a miracle.

But it wasn’t just a play of words; wheels (now we got that right) have always been a huge part of this couple’s love story. Alain and Shiela met through their love of wheels at a Honda Club of the Philippines (a car club for Honda owners) and since then have been driving together in the road of life. But as you know, even the freeway of love’s got its own annoying bumps. Gossips sidetracked their relationship and trust hit a major crash.

*Bear with us, the metaphors go all the way to the end of this post*

“It was a mistake for us to listen to other people instead of each other,” Shiela shares, “It turns out, other people–when they’re not happy–willingly want others to be unhappy, too. They just want to drag other people down.” But the two wouldn’t just let their good thing crash and burn under their watch. “We got to the bottom of the problem and talked to each other calmly,” says Alain. “We’ve learned that in a relationship,” Shiela adds, “We need to listen to and believe each other first before we listen to other people.”

With a little communication, sweet kisses, and a whole lot of miracle, the wheels were on a roll again. And so was Trust. “Well, God works in mysterious ways,” Alain simply put.

Finally, the long drive has come to this–a place where love is “sweeter and more true the second time around”. Park here for a few minutes and share with Alain and Shiela’s journey.

We once asked this couple about their two cents on the subject of Love. And they came back with the ultimate cheesy line: “When you are meant to be with the person, no matter where you are or what you are doing, there is no dull moment and even the silence with that person will make you happy.”

That’s our cheesy couple Migo and Ericka! This officemates-turned-lovers may not be compatible (Ericka’s obsession with nail polish just drives Migo craaazy!) but they’re what each other needs, alright! With almost four years into the relationship, the two look back and sum up, “When you have found the one, you will know it right there and then. No year or month is needed. You will feel that you are with the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and that you are willing to adjust to make that person happy. You may not know why, but you will just know.”

Take it from Migo and Ericka, they know. :)

Thank you for giving us our daily dose of cheese, you two! Warms our hearts!

Twelve years seems like a long wait. But when you breeze through it with the one you love, it hardly feels like waiting at all. :)

Fil and Jesy met at a birthday party. She was a friend of the ex-girlfriend of his best friend (go figure). Love bloomed in the golden days of 1999, and yes they have been together ever since! And 12 years after, Fil and Jesy are still standing together hand-in-hand, just as they have been in 1999! Young love got a fighting chance, eh? Of course the two had to keep their relationship secret at first since Jesy’s parents were strict. But in the end, their love story made it to the altar.

He was her first boy friend, she was his first girl friend. Some firsts last forever after all!

:)

And we quote from the lovely bride herself: “Loving you has always been and will always come naturally.”

Now if that doesn’t make you swoon, we don’t know what will!

Here’s to more years of love and togetherness, Fil and Jesy! God bless you both!

Home truly is where the love is. And for this Wang couple, there’s no place to get married in like the Philippines. Choosing to pronounce their promise in front of their families and friends back here at home just goes to show that celebrating love with the blessings of the people dear to you still is a culture so treasured among us Filipinos. We laud you, Alan and Janiel, for saying I Do to marriage as glorious as the breathtaking Manila sunset.
